be still my (pizza) heart

Motto of the year: If you're gonna bring the boom, don't forget the shakalaka.  Everyday.

The leftovers of my pizza at Origano.  Bomb to the dotcom.

Last night the hubs and I ventured out to a delectable new little Italian joint in Hillcrest, Origano.  It was delicious.  I actually would say this is the BEST pizza I have had since living in Italy.

Apples n oats.

This lovely January morning started off on a good note.  Greek yogurt, sliced apple, and a few oats, and ended with the debauchery that is pizza.  BUT, we're not going to sweat over it, because life's too short not to take a slice of it now and again.

Hello my name is eat me I'm delicious.

On normal days I would do my best to eat maybe half of my personal pizza at the VERY MOST.  Then I would feel bad about it all night, make my hubs feel bad about it, and remember how terrible I am for enjoying life via one meal.  But not tonight, not now.

Pizza Margherita. Nom Nom Nom.

Tonight I ate the whole pie, minus 1 piece swiped by the hubs, and it was worth every bite.  Not to be cheesy, no pun intended, but it really made me think about my life in general.  If you're only going to eat half of the pie, and complain about it later what's the point?  If you order the pie, eat the pie, enjoy it, and indulge in gelato.

Let's just be honest with ourselves.  The junk in my trunk will never look like Kate's, but, I am going to enjoy my life, one bite at a time. AND in the 1 out of maybe 3 occasions of the whole year I eat pizza, the hubs won't think it's possible I hate myself.  Because I don't.

Nothing exists outside this cup of apple cider tea.

The truth is the following, yoga really is my religion, tea heals the heart and soul, chocolate should be enjoyed, pizza should feel delicious, and if you are not happy with all of your choices, those around you won't be happy with you as their choice.  Soak it up.  AND if you're gonna bring the boom, don't forget to pack the shakalaka. (A tip I learned recently from NBA Jam).

breakfast: cappuccino and vogue italia

Good morning beautiful, how was your night?

Mine was wonderful with you by my side...  This morning as I sipped my new morning proteinaccino, I said to myself, "Self, there must have been a time when life was this simple.  When you weren't judged for a morning smoke in the garden in your lace."  I just love Vogue Italia for continuing to challenge what is beautiful, what is okay, and why we take life so seriously.

If I can be as glamorous as this woman in 60 years, scratch that, if I have the balls to be this lady, I will know I've lived a life worth living.  I've always believed that if what you wear makes you happy, you will never look stupid.  At least you won't really give a deuce how you look, life's just not that complicated to over think it.

glamour does not touch the essence of this beaut

Nail polish, lipstick, rings, eyeliner, feathers, all perfection.

Enjoy being you.

At the end of the day, enjoy what you wear, enjoy what you do, enjoy you.  You may as well match the rest of the wall paper in the world... Life was probably never simple so long as emotions and egos were involved.  But life is pretty awesome if you just step back and appreciate the little things that love you back.

Or you can take a stand for what makes you happy.  Like red lipstick, glitter, gold, and drops of cappuccino on Sunday mornings.

Random thought of the day:  I need help tying my scarves, anyone have a how to with a plethora of ways in which I can wrap it?

things to smile

remember to be a part, remember to be present, remember the things that make you smile.

Sometimes those days happen where you have to take a step back and take "control of the controllables".  Today I am remembering what my coach used to say, I am controlling what is within my control, my effort and my attitude (in life), and adding in a laugh for myself.  Because laughing is my favorite.  With every dose of reality I always need to chase it with the thought that at the end of the day life shouldn't be that serious.

glitter braids and haute geeks

inspired by the following

The other day my best friend cancelled our run together because she had to work late and she had to go to school later. She felt terrible for flaking. I felt terrible that she felt terrible. I told her, "life is not that serious for me to get upset for you being busy and living your life."

Every week there are a few/hundred things that catch my eye and wallet's lust, mini little escapes from reality.

Enjoy the pretty.   Enjoy the moments.  Busy happens, but don't get mad at someone because of it.  Here's what made me happy this week.

Haute geeks.

Romance expressed in fashion.

Glitter. Obviously. Anything that glitters I will probably buy.

let it burn

morning berries and antics

This morning started off with a not so delicious protein smoothie that consisted of berries, almond butter, and brown rice protein powder. The man at the vitamin shop promised me I wouldn't even taste the protein powder, and he was right. I taste the heaping of clay, chalk and mud, oh nom nom nom. Help: In need of more magical protein powder, but I hate stevia, and artificial sweeteners, so bottoms up to whoever can find me that mix.

The best part of this shake was the almond butter drowned in mud.

style for style

My inspiration today: My Grandma Betty. She's crazy, but down right haute and if you listen to her you might cure your day. Smokin' right?

This is her classic, throw my hands up because I don't know why you're taking my photo pose.

kick kick kickin' it.

So Nike dropped off a sweet little package on my doorstep the other day, and I have to say I am in love. Typically I like my running shoes with a bit of support and comfort, so I didn't think these skinny minis would hold up, but they more than carried their weight in my workout this morning.

Super comfy, lightweight but yet still supportive and let's be honest the colours make my heart warm.

sweaty sesh

Oh Jillian you kicked my butt today and mama liked it.

these boots were made for bloggin...

A little swoon from Vogue Italia this morning.  I'm gonna need this cape and boots from Stefanel.

So about that protein powder... You got any tips for me?

va bene cosi

Good morning good morning good morning, it's time to rise and shine.

Last night some of you may have noticed that I made a new declaration. Having that goal, and the accountability of a few friends and strangers in my back pocket this morning put a smile on my face while making my morning protein shake.

Some berries, some brown rice protein powder, some peanut butter, some sort of delicious. The cup made it though... really.

Heading out to take on the day, and swing by lululemon for a few new threads in support of my new journey.  Do you support retail therapy?  Happy Tuesday.

P.S. Here's a couple photos I kind of love, though the subject, I do not.  I am not a fan of Linds, or her crazy life but I am a fan of awesome photos and everything Vogue Italia.

When I hear somebody sigh, "Life is hard," I am always tempted to ask, "Compared to what?" - Sydney J. Harris

I was never the girl next door. - Bettie Page

Lindsay, Lindsay, Lindsay. Not entirely a fan, but I admire the way you are who you are without apology.  Va bene cosi.
